Ever, ever will I learn! I have in my stash of 'ideas for Renée's Blog' this piece of information with nothing written on it to remind me of;
1) When I received it, 2) Where I was when I received it, 3) Or, who gave it to me.
Word of advice; ALWAYS put these three pieces of information on anything you want to save, because if you are like me and think you will remember, you won't.
I'm guessing it was a handout for lesson given in DUP (Daughters of Utah Pioneers) a couple of years ago. I have 'googled it' by name and title hoping to find a source with no success, which I was surprised because more often than not I can find a source.
Just look at the date on this piece of Wisdom; 1860. I felt it was still worth posting even though I can't prove Marianne is a real person! I do think she is! Wouldn't you love to have this wise person in your pedigree!

Last Twenty Years; Sarah Ann Cashmore Kidgell
It's amazing to me of what it takes for me to suddenly realize the importance of;
- Letters
- Picture
- Records of sorts
I have in my possession. These things were discovered in a trunk in an old family granary in Albion, Idaho. (This information comes from the Kidgell and Cahsmore Histories that was sent to me when I first started blogging about Charles and Sarah Ann.) I even think I have the old trunk where these precious thing were stored. Until very recently, I had no idea the signification of these items or the trunk that sits in my guest room today!
By doing extensive research on the Cashmore/Kidgell's I have come to realize how blessed I am to have these things in my very own possession.
Below is the latest record of importance. Old genealogy/temple records. The last twenty years of Sarah Ann's life she did 'genealogy'. She must have written a considerable amount of letters to relatives in England to get the information that is shown in the record below. (That would take twenty years!) I have many pages of this type of information. These pages have been torn out of a Temple Record book and I have no idea what has happened to the 'other pages'.
I had to include the four pictures of Sarah Ann in different stages of her life.
I am sure when I get to the other side I will recognize Sarah Ann Cashmore Kidgell.
Sarah Ann and my great grandmother Sarah Ann (Sadie) and her husband Edward Hepworth did most of the Proxy work in doing the ordinances.

Road Trip To My Past and My Ancestors Past.
10 June 2011 I left my home - just me - for a ten day road trip. I must say On Star is worth every penny spent! Those who know me, know I am directional challenged but, with On Star NO PROBLEM.
My first stop was just five hours away, Boise! Spent the night with a cousin Bev Halling(our mother's are sisters) and enjoyed catching up on family and dinner out. Next stop was just a few hours away in Jerome where I was born and lived until twelve years old. The only familiar building downtown was the bank on the corner, otherwise it looked like 'Little Mexico'. The swimming pool where I spent many many summer hours is now just a playground! The front porch of our old house is the same (just like you see in my blog pic with me sitting on my fathers lap) otherwise a pretty sad worn out house. I won't go into all details of my trip just to say it was a great ten days. I will mention all the other places I spent time visiting, Albion, Twin Falls, Pocatello, Lava Hot Springs, Logan, Ogden, Salt Lake City. In Salt Lake City I visited my Great-Great-Grandfather's house Thomas Hepworth that is being restored.
This is the house on 1 May 2010. Picture below was taken on
18 June 2011; you will see that the porch cover has been taken down in preparation to restore it to the original LOOK. Alan B. is the owner and restorer and lives in the house. When he purchased the Hepworth House it had been turned into apartments and the brick had been covered with ugly asbestos siding. Alan has done a wonderful job restoring the outside and soon it will have the original look of the porch. He works from a photograph. Fortunately no walls had been altered inside the house just walls added which he has removed. (Mostly)
Alan has a done a remarkable job in researching the house which was built by Thomas and Mary Hepworth in 1877 and has had several owners through the years before Alan purchased it in 1999. How fortunate we are to have someone see the beauty of our ancestors house and so carefully and lovingly
bring it back to the original beautiful structure.
Many Thanks!
When I get finished with the Kidgell life histories the HEPWORTH'S are next.
Did you read the post where Sadie (Sarah Ann) Kidgell married James Fletcher Hepworth? Remember? They were married in this house.

Sarah Ann's Parents are WHO?

This is Sarah Ann's Death Certificate and it's a good example of wrong information. The informant was her daughter, my Great Grandmother, Sarah Ann (Sadie) Hepworth. Was the person entering the information in training? Hard of hearing? Or, just having a bad day! And, was Sadie so befuddled she didn't think to proof read what was put on the certificate so it could be corrected?
Her name is correct; Sarah Ann Kidgell
Her birth date is correct; 19 Dec 1829 and she is widowed. Notice her last married name of Vogel is not used which I am glad.
Her age should read 83 yrs. 11 Mos. 1 day and not 73 yrs. Now; name of father:
Edward POSHWOND should be CASHMORE.
Mother's name: Maria TINLENSON for TOMLINSON This record (digital) can be found on this site; http://archives.utah.gov/research/indexes/index.html This record also has been indexed on the familysearch site; https://www.familysearch.org/search/recordDetails/show?uri=https://api.familysearch.org/records/pal:/MM9.1.r/MJ9W-WDD/p1 with the same (mis) information which is what the indexer saw but, a very obvious mistake by the indexer was made.
Death date is correct but the Birth date is 19 Dec 1913 which is a month and a day after her death. I wonder how this got by the proof reader after it had been indexed by a most gracious volunteer?
Bottom line: Death certificates cannot be used as a primary source!

This is a cousin of my dad. He was born 30 April 1922 in Salt Lake City and moved with his parents to Albion, Idaho in 1928 where he lived until entering the service. Ralph was nine years younger than Dad. Ralph died 24 July 1945.
Ralph was in the Navy and a co-pilot, flying a plane pictured below, a PBY4-2. I have lots of information about Ralph and his flights which I will Blog about at a later date.
This story, with more detail, was reported around the world!
"24 July 1945, two PBY4-2 airplane's took off from Yontan Field, Okinawa, for an anti-shipping sweep along the west coast of Korea. Two message's were received, one that two planes had been attacked by enemy aircraft. No position given. Another, referred to a successful attack on a Japanese merchant ship. The planes did not return to base the next morning and all available planes were sent out and exhaustive search was made. No trace was found of the missing plane's or its crew. Among the missing was

You are in our hearts and memory this Memorial Day; never to be forgotten!
If you visit Albion be sure to visit the museum and see the Memorial that is posted there. If it’s not open there is a number you can call that’s posted on the side of the building and a delightful person is willing to open the museum just for you. I have done this several times since the regular OPEN hours are not when I visit Albion.

Sarah Ann Lives to be 84 Years Old
From August of 1899 Sarah Ann lived in this house at
757 West First North St. [today it is Second North] Salt Lake City, Utah until her death 20 Nov. 1913.
She died in the L.D.S. hospital.
Others living in the house over the fourteen years of time were her daughter Sadie [Sarah Ann], her husband James Hepworth, [owners of the house] and their children James, Charles, and Ethel, my grandmother. My father Vern, was three months old when Sarah Ann died.
DEATH OF MRS. KIDGELL
FOLLOWING OPERATION
Mrs. Sarah Ann Kidgell, aged 84 years, widow of the late
Charles Kidgell, and pioneer, who died
Thursday night at a local hospital, will be
buried Sunday afternoon, services
being held at 12:30 in the Sixteenth Ward chapel.
Friends desirous of viewing the body may do so
at the home of her daughter, Mrs. James Hepworth, 757
West First North from 10:30 to 12:30 the
day of the funeral.
Mrs. Kidgell has been a sufferer for several years, and
was taken to the hospital to undergo an operation in
the hopes of a cure. For several days
it seemed that she would recover, but a relapse, ensued,
from which she could not rally.
Mrs. Kidgell was born in Birmingham, Eng., in 1829 and
joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
with her husband in 1850, coming to Salt Lake five
years later. She settled in the Ninth Ward
where she was a faithful worker in the Relief Society
for many years. She resided in Logan for some time where
she was also known for her charity and kindheartedness.
Mrs. Kidgell is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Joseph Bithell
and Mrs. James Hepworth os Salt Lake and a son, Fred C. Kidgell
of Logan; also 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Six of her children, a daughter and five sons, died in infancy.
It is said to be that Sarah Ann suffered with gall bladder problems for several years.
After being operated on she developed pneumonia which was the cause of death.
Taken from the Kidgell Cashmore Histories: Mrs. Kidgell lived for many years with her
daughter Mrs. James Hepworth. She was a great sufferer for many years but was nursed
and cared for by her daughter and Mr. Hepworth more assiduously, She was not
allowed to suffer, every wish was gratified as far as it was possible and every
want supplied.
More comments on Sarah Ann at a later posting.
Next Posting; A tribute to the Hepworth Young Men.
